My Sexual Harassment or Would you like some bourbon with that corncob?

Any yaoi fan worth her Aestheticism password has seen or has heard of this title. One of the few really really hardcore yaoi animes out there, this also served as my first exposure to the genre. And what an introduction it was. I absolutely loved it! The story is very simple, but yes, there is an actual story. Junma is a young, dedicated employee at a Japanese tech company, eager and oh-so-willing to please. When he is sexually harassed one night by his superior, the forceful and dominant Honma, Junya does not resist. Nor does he resist when Honma eventually gets him into bed. Nor does he resist when Honma begins to pimp him out to upper management and various clients. Ostensibly, Junya is screwing his way up the corporate ladder so he will not lose his job and to help the company land important business, but it quickly becomes apparent that job stability and duty are not the only motivating factors at work here.

I have seen Boku no Sexual Harassment described as a morality tale, a story of self-actualization, a narrative about the realization of sexual freedom. Those are just tags used to get it past the censors. Boku no Sexual Harassment is a sex comedy, a fun romp whose plot basically serves to propel Junya from one bed partner to another. And it is a well done sex romp. True, the characters are, at the most basic level, all stereotypes – there is Honma, the manipulative and aggressive businessman who serves as the story’s catalyst and main seme, the horny and dirty old partner who likes gadgets, Fujita, the best friend and perhaps the only person in the world who could possibly be uke to Junma and, of course, Junma himself, the ultimate Dumb Blond. The stock nature of the characters helps the story in fact. If the viewer actually felt real pity or sympathy for Junma then Boku no would be a cynical and depressing piece of work. The character designs are beautiful (Thank you once again Kodaka!!) and all of the young men in Boku no are attractive and, most importantly, they look like men. The animation is clean and smooth - no overly jerky body movements or fake still-frame kisses here. If you crave sex scenes, with at least two major bedroom scenes on each of the 3 discs that comprise Boku no, you are sure to get you fill. These scenes are well done, depicting very graphic sex that is provocative and hot yet without ever showing any plumbing or resorting to transparency or glowing clouds. And oh the many and varied positions!

So call it a morality tail, umm, tale or a story of corporate shenanigans, unrequited love, and finally taking control of one’s own destiny and sex life or just call it the adventures of the butt slut, with great looking guys, hot sex, and a hilarious plot, Boku no Sexual Harassment is a keeper. (And now that it’s been licensed, you can keep it legally.) Two . . . . corncobs up!
